Reporting Emerald Ash Borer

1. Think you found Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) or an Infested Tree?

  • Review emerald ash borer (EAB) identification at the Invader Gallery page.eab

  • Is the infested tree an ash? EAB only attacks ash trees. Check out our ash ID resources.

  • Review common EAB look-alikes.

  • In many cases, EAB is difficult to detect. Some signs that we look for include woodpecker flecking or "blonding and "s" shaped gallery, found under the bark. Check out the image gallery below for images showing these signs.

2. Still think you have EAB?

Please submit clear photos that show the tree canopy, bark or tree branching pattern, as well as possible signs like wood pecker flecking, or insect galleries found under the bark.
