Explore Muckross State Park and Hoyt's Landing in Springfield, VT! Discover and help catalog all kinds of plants, animals, insects, fungi, trees, and much more as you explore the different habitat types of these two wonderful sites. Talk with experts, go on guided walks, see live animals, and share in the citizen science project using iNaturalist on your smartphone. While admission is free, a small donation of $10 per person to the Black River Action Team at either location will net you a cool BRAT cinch-sack and a commemorative button, plus "swag" at selected booths! Come for an hour, or pack a lunch and stay for the whole day. Shuttle service will be available between the Muckross State Park and Hoyt's Landing, courtesy of Butler's Bus Service, so explore and enjoy with your whole family. Both sites are connected by the Toonerville Trail recreation path, so walking or biking from site to site is very "do-able" - plus, the Park & Ride is along the route, so you can park and walk if coming from out of town. Bird walk at Muckross from 7-8AM, aquatic plant paddle at Hoyt's Landing (BYOBoat) between 10 - noon; we're also scheduling a mushroom walk at Muckross! Contact BRAT Director Kelly Stettner for details at blackrivercleanup@gmail.com; pre-registration is not required but is helpful in ordering cinch-sacks and buttons.

** UPDATE 5/15/18: Hoyt's Landing will be the site for our awesome "after dark" session! From 9-10:30PM, we'll feature JoAnne Russo to introduce us to moths and other nocturnal insects, plus we'll be on the lookout for evening-feeding dragonflies, bats, and birds! Bring insect repellent to keep away biting bugs, a light jacket or sweatshirt in case it gets chilly, your camera, a UV light, a small flashlight, and your sense of adventure. Let me know you'd like to come to this by sending an email to blackrivercleanup@gmail.com!
